Wine
The Society was formed in 1978 by a group of home wine and beer enthusiast
members who could share their knowledge, hold their own competitions, and also
compete in outside competitions.
The Society has achieved and continues to achieve considerable success in
this field.

Times change, and with the advent of cheap good
quality supermarket wines the number of wine makers has now considerably
reduced, although we do still have a small but active group within the Society.
The Society has developed more into a wine and food appreciation Society
and holds popular wine tastings at regular intervals plus talks on food, along
with a wide range of topics of general interest. Annual party nights, when we
have dinner, plus entertainment and our Vice President's evening when
strawberries and cream with wine are served, also accompanied by entertainment
are very popular.
Meetings are held usually on one Friday evening per
month between September and June.
