Travel

The Travel Club dates from 1986, with an aim of 'Promoting group travel for Club members'. We meet socially on the third Friday of most months, with the exception of July and August, mainly for a varied programme of talks on travel related subjects.

In addition to our indoor meetings we arrange tours, trips and visits, as suggested by the committee or members themselves, when sufficient numbers are involved to make them viable propositions. Generally these trips run once a month during Spring and Summer.

In October we have a Hot Pot Supper and an Annual Dinner is held in January. A Coffee Morning is held on the third Saturday in July. In common with other sections our AGM is held in May when the Annual Subscription of £2 is due. During the year we plan day trips to places of interest and hold two Short Breaks of 3 or 4 nights in the Spring and Autumn. These are always popular and it is advisable to come early to the Evening Meetings if you wish to book your place on the coach.

The success of the system may be gathered from the membership, which has grown from forty to its present level of well over 200. The atmosphere is happy and relaxed and the company congenial.

The programme for the remainder of the season is:- March 19th ‘Gold Rush to Alaska’. April 15th Visit to Gorton Monastery. April 16th ‘A Taste of China’. May 14th AGM June 7th-11th Holiday in Bournemouth. June 18th ‘The Best of Nepal’. July 17th Coffee Morning. There is a proposed Autumn Break to the Cotswolds from October 4th-8th.
