Art Section
The Art Group began as a result of popular demand in February 1999 when a few enthusiasts tried a six months trial holding one Art Session a week. Very quickly we became a Section and today we have over 70 members and meet twice a week on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in the Jubilee Room. The Annual Subscription to join the Art Section is £4 and we pay £1.50 each session we attend to cover room rent. We do break for Easter, Summer Holiday and Christmas. New members are always welcome. We hold Open Days each year in February.
The Art Group is a club rather than a class although help and tuition is available from our Group Leaders, Peter Clegg and Tony Worthington. We do range from beginners to professionals. Watercolour is our main media but we occasionally try acrylics, pen and wash, pastels, silk painting etc.
Our annual programme includes ;
Classes,workshops and demonstrations by group members and professional artists.
Visits to art galleries. Location painting challenges. Annual social event
